Cameras definitely make people look different. When I went on Tinder dates people were shocked at how much better I looked in real life than in a photo. I also experienced vice versa, where the person in the photo looked way worse in real life

But also….in a mirror you have instant feedback, so if you see a double chin then you can alter your position to lessen it within a nano second. Cameras you often don’t know what you look like and so you can’t self edit before it is captured.
